Why Perovskite Technology?
Artificial lights, from LED's or fluorescent bulbs, have a different light profile than sunlight. Silicon, the gold standard for outdoor photovoltaics, absorbs sunlight very well, but struggles to absorb the high energy light from indoor bulbs. The best light absorber for indoor applications should have a band gap between 1.8 to 2.0 eV, compared to 1.1 to 1.6 eV for silicon.
Perovskites have tunable bandgaps; between 1.2 to 2.6 eV. We can adjust the bandgap with small variations to the chemical composition and as a result optimize perovskites for indoor light absorption.
Solaires’ PVModules are perovskite based photovoltaic modules that convert wasted indoor light to useful electricity.
These modules are ideal for powering the next generation of indoor smart homes, consumer electronics, and IoT devices.
