Perovskite Photovoltaic Blinds have the power to bring solar energy to skyscrapers. They can be installed anywhere there is a window that sees the sun. Imagine how much light a 50-story office building sees in a day!
There is potential to see solar power installations on the scale of megawatts! If panels are installed on all 3 sides of a building, the duration of solar energy production is longer, starting earlier in the day, and going long into the evening.
These longer hours help track alongside a typical workday, allowing energy to be produced while people are on-site, offsetting energy use and improving sustainable practices.
These blinds can also help reduce the amount of energy required for cooling as it filters out and reduces the amount of thermal energy from the sun entering into the building.

In the long term, our technology will allow us to manufacture Flexible Photovoltaic Tiles, made with tandem solar cells. They can be installed on conventional asphalt roofs just like conventional shingles. They can replace today’s thick metal-framed boxy solar panels made with rigid glass or silicon.
Future plans also include the research and development of Smart Solar Cell Windows in the form of glass or film with embedded transparent solar cells. This product would be capable of controlling heat while converting solar energy to electricity.
