Quality Control Chemist

DESCRIPTION

The QC Chemist will work in the lab directly with our scientists and business development team and is responsible for testing the product, maintaining the quality assurance process, recording and analyzing the results gathered during product development. The QC Chemist is also responsible for setting up and managing quality control systems as well as generating and maintaining SOP and MSDS. This job is in Victoria, B.C.


TASKS
  • Carry out inspections to meet the standard set by the organization.

  • Assist product development in QC stability testing and shelf life Analysis.

  • Prepare and maintain records and summaries relating to product information and production.

  • Ensure that manufacturing processes and products meet the quality specifications that are laid down by the company .

  • Ensure that customers receive products that are fit for consumption.

  • Proper assessment of suppliers, approve finished products for onward shipment to the market.

  • Create, check and update Standard Operating Principles, quality control policies and standards.

  • Monitor every stage of production to avoid product defects.

  • Record test results as required, write reports and submit to Chief Development Officer

  • Recommend modifications to already existing production standards and standard operation procedure within the limits of available equipment capacity and capability

  • Work with Product Development team to create Material Safety Data Sheet


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Minimum Bachelors degree with 2 years experience working in a chemistry laboratory environment.

  • Thorough understanding of methods and processes involved in manufacturing.

  • Well skilled in quality processes and also statistical techniques.

  • In-depth understanding of chemical composition, structure, and properties of different substances and the understanding of chemical interactions.

  • Hands-on experience in measurement and test equipment.

  • Ability to work well in a team; possess problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and quality control standards.

  • Ability to interpret instructions whether written, spoken, or in a diagram.

  • Experience with solar cell technologies is an asset.
